Will there be a Python version 4?

Development | Programming languages
Python 3.6 is out, 3.7 branches are all setup in development.

Exciting times for the Python community.

Python 2.7 was the last release of the 2.x series, so by logic, Python 4.0 will be the next major release after 3.7.

OK, so this is totally illogical.

With advent of Python 3 there were some breaking changes introduced and that’s why Python 2 and Python 3 are incompatible with each other.

In Python3 there is no backward compatiblity with Python2

This is not going to happen again.

Even if they version a Python4 , there will confirmed no breaking changes and it will be totally backward compatible with other python 3.x versions.

It won't be that soon, because after version 3.9 comes 3.10 ...
